Broken lives, broken bodies, a sorrowful existence and a future with such a bad beginning. During or after conflicts and wars, this is the fate that awaits so many children, especially little girls, sometimes even babies, who have suffered the worst. Rape. Rape to make profit, to wipe out families, to divide communities, such that females can never go back home. Just like these babies who are born out of rape, or with their far too young mothers, who are sent out into the world.
These children need to be cared for, accompanied, supported and loved. More than any other child, we need to give them attention, care and support. But also justice, for the crimes they have suffered and for those who have perpetrated them, they must be held to account.
